Why I'm A Boudoir Photographer
There I was, half-naked in a cold, dusty room. My camera propped up on a wobbly stack of books as I ran back and forth between the camera and my designated spot.
When I first discovered boudoir photography, it felt creative and slightly like fashion photography. Then, one day I made plans to take some fashion-style self-portraits at my mom's house. She had just demolished a spare bedroom. The room was completely gutted, with exposed walls and debris on the floor. It was perfect! However, within minutes I realized it wasn't working. I didn't like the outfits or my ideas. Still determined to get some self-portraits, I dug through my bag of random clothes that I had packed. I ended up wearing a sheer floral bodysuit. I had no idea what I was doing. I didn't know any boudoir poses, and I had forgotten my tripod. There I was, half-naked in a cold, dusty room. My camera propped up on a wobbly stack of books as I ran back and forth between the camera and my designated spot. When it was all said and done, I knew from that moment on that I had to pursue boudoir photography.
I want every woman to experience the power of boudoir and have stunning images of themselves. I've been able to witness first-hand how impactful this experience can be for my clients. Boudoir is a celebration of our bodies and ourselves. It's an experience that will make you feel connected to your sensual side.
I love the personal, intimate, and very vulnerable one-on-one experience that I get with each person. Boudoir photography is an opportunity to make a real connection and truly bond with the women around me. I'm building a community of women celebrating themselves and each other.
…And that's why I'm a boudoir photographer.
Here are the self-portraits that made me pursue boudoir photography. The image quality is poor but they will always have a special place in my heart.
Common Reasons For Not Booking A Boudoir Shoot | Pittsburgh PA Boudoir Photographer
It’s the most common reason for saying no to boudoir, and it saddens me.
“I need to lose weight.”
It’s the most common reason for saying no to boudoir, and it saddens me. While I do understand having insecurities, it’s just not a way to live life. Waiting for “if” or “when” something happens is not honoring yourself at this present moment. I do everything in my power to make you feel comfortable. From assisting with flattering outfit options and talking about your insecurities, so we’re on the same page.
“I’m too old.”
Let’s celebrate age. I find that there’s more confidence after the age of 30. Where there is confidence, there is sexiness and sensuality. Each session is designed specifically for you. I photograph individual beauty and uniqueness. I do this with carefully curated wardrobe pieces, specific poses, and lighting.
“I don’t have anyone special to share sexy photos with.”
Yes, you do! That special someone is you. The entire experience is about you. You book a boudoir session to get pampered, build confidence, and feel empowered. It only makes sense to then gift those stunning images to yourself, right? Boudoir is the best way to indulge in something a little extra. While you’re at it, buy a large print for your home to remind yourself daily that you are that special someone.
“I’m not sexy enough.”
You may think you’re not sexy, but I’m here to say you are. Sexiness is more than wearing skimpy lingerie and being able to pose seductively. Sexy to me is a person that’s caring, smart, strong, resilient, and confident. Plus, it’s my job to make you look sexy. I guide you step-by-step on posing to achieve the most stunning images you have ever seen.
The list of reasons can go on and on. We all have something that prevents us from committing to that so called scary thing. What will you do to change that behavior? I promise, you won’t regret doing the “scary” boudoir shoot. If you’re interested in boudoir, please look me up on social media and fill out the contact form on my website.
